Veteran water and wastewater professional will help lead ClearStream’s continued sales growth, strengthen its representative network and expand relationships with consulting engineers and industrial customers.
ClearStream Engineering is pleased to announce the promotion of Jim “Jimmy” Woods to Vice President of Sales, recognizing his leadership and contributions during a period of significant growth for the company.
Woods joined ClearStream in March 2018, bringing decades of water and wastewater industry experience and a degree in mechanical engineering. His career has included project management, leadership and extensive work in industrial markets.
Since Woods joined ClearStream, the sales organization has grown from primarily Woods and founder Larry handling bids to a team of approximately eight to ten sales professionals. ClearStream has also strengthened its representative network, establishing representation in every U.S. state and adding international agents.
A Career Built on Relationships
Woods originally planned to pursue a career in construction before earning his mechanical engineering degree and finding an unexpected career in water and wastewater.
More than 30 years later, that industry has become a passion.
“I’m passionate. I love it. I’m a geek with it,” Woods said.
That enthusiasm also shapes his approach to sales. Woods describes himself as a “relationship guy” who places a high value on knowing customers, representatives and colleagues personally. Over his career, many of those professional relationships have grown into lasting friendships.
Building ClearStream’s Next Stage of Growth
As Vice President of Sales, Woods will continue strengthening ClearStream’s representative and agent network while helping guide sales and marketing efforts around two primary objectives: increasing bookings and getting ClearStream equipment included in engineering specifications.
Woods sees strengthening relationships with consulting engineers and expanding ClearStream’s presence in industrial markets as significant opportunities for continued growth.
As the company grows, Woods believes one of ClearStream’s greatest strengths is its ability to support significant projects while maintaining the responsiveness of a smaller organization.
“We’re large enough to support any project, but we’re small enough to not be caught in the bureaucracy of things,” Woods said. “We can make decisions. We can get things done.”
Maintaining that culture is important to Woods as ClearStream looks toward the future.
“We have to make sure we don’t lose the closeness—the ownership mentality,” Woods said.
Woods also views sales as a collaborative effort involving representatives, engineering, project management, production, field service and other ClearStream teams—all working together to better serve customers.
Looking Ahead
Woods believes ClearStream is well positioned for its next stage of growth as the company becomes more widely recognized throughout the industry.
“The sky’s the limit,” Woods said. “Our name is growing.”
As he steps into his newly formalized role as Vice President of Sales, Woods says he is grateful for the representatives, customers and ClearStream employees who have contributed to the company’s success.
“I love that we’re all trying to help each other,” Woods said. “And hopefully I can help them.”
