Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF)

ClearStream Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) systems provide high-efficiency clarification and solids thickening for water and wastewater treatment. Designed for both municipal and industrial applications, our DAF units effectively remove suspended solids, fats, oils, grease (FOG), algae, and other floatable materials with specific gravity close to water.

Available in circular and rectangular configurations, ClearStream DAF systems are engineered for flexibility, reliability, and cost-effective performance—whether for new installations or retrofit projects.

How Dissolved Air Flotation Works

A portion of clarified effluent is recycled and pressurized in an air saturation vessel. Compressed air dissolves into the recycle stream under pressure. When released through a specialized pressure relief valve near the center of the unit, the dissolved air forms microscopic bubbles that attach to suspended solids.

These air-laden particles float to the surface, where a mechanical skimming system removes the solids. Clarified effluent exits the tank for discharge or further treatment.

ClearStream develops a detailed 3D model for every unit manufactured, ensuring accurate fit-up and seamless integration with site-specific layouts. These models also serve as a valuable tool for operator training and system familiarization, providing clear insight into unit design and operation.

Clients are provided access to the 3D models, allowing them to view and manipulate the equipment from their own office or facility. This capability enables operations and maintenance personnel to virtually inspect the unit, plan maintenance activities, and understand internal components—without draining the tank or interrupting operation.
